“This is a modern rustic, elegant venue one could find in a luxury hotel in northern California; but add a water hole and here comes the buffalo, chimps, hyenas, gazelles and instantly one is in Singita's Faru Faru. Located in the southern area of Grumeti's Game Reserve, it's pure luxury. The wall to wall portrait-sized retracting window frames the view. The amenities include bath oil, bath salt and bubbles for the indoor tub. There is an outdoor shower overlooking water hole where only the wildlife has view. The mini bar is well stocked with wines and spirits; and cookies and chocolates; even Pringles potato chips. The service is attentive and friendly (it's like knowing the staff as old friends); and the food well presented and delicious. The portions are generous."There is a peacefulness in the Serengeti", I said to a staffer (who's mom in Masai and father from northern Tanzania). He replied, "There is a peacefulness because there is balance."Yes, nothing is wasted. The hunters hunt; scavengers take over; and the dung beetles use and eat the dung. There are no fences surrounding Grumeti Reserve so game come and go as they please. There is an abundance of wildlife here because there is food and safety. Now, when can I come and go as I please? This is truly a luxurious place that I would visit again and again.”
“Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the incredible beauty, service, and friendliness of this lodge and the wonderful people on the staff! The lodge is open air to the magnificent Serengeti reserve yet there is not one speck of dust to be seen in the lodge or the rooms. Within one day the staff knew our names, our food preferences, our wine preferences and our adventure plan. The lodge suites were more like casitas with spacious living areas and expansive porches complete with outside sleeping beds and beautiful netting that allowed star viewing in a protected elevated shelter. The secluded stone outdoor shower was my favorite. Not usually a morning person, I could not resist waking at dawn to shower while watching the sunrise and marveling at the chorus of the birds and the baboons across the river. Our guide, James Ikamba, was beyond amazing in his knowledge of the animals and environment, our fearless leader in adventure including the swinging bridge over the crocks in the river below. A visit to the local village was a memory of a lifetime, the beautiful smiling children and dancing with the locals, even the joking gesture of trading my daughter for 30 cows. Our lives will never be the same, the most wonderful lodge and game reserve, the incredible people and the beautiful land of Tanzania imprints our hearts.”
“This is my second trip to Grumeti reserve but my first time staying in the mobile tented camp at Lions Rock. The panoramic view that opens up in front of you every morning you wake up to have breakfast is simply breathtaking. On our second day, a mixed herd of zebras and wildebeests came to graze in the open plains in front of the camp, as if putting on a show for us.I cannot emphasize how impressed I was with the quality of food served at this camp. I have eaten at other lodges in the Grumeti reserve on my last trip three years ago, so I knew food would be good, but at the mobile camp virtually everything is cooked on a BBQ, yet there are surprises at every meal. They even baked special muffins for our horses, which looked good enough for people to eat!Service is very personal and the staff always knew when to appear and when to leave you alone. At night there are guards to escort you from dining tent back to your own tent (with ensuite bathroom complete with flushing toilet), and although there are no telephone lines there is a whistle in the tent to blow on in case of emergency. My friend and I felt very safe and protected the entire time, even when we can hear the lions outside at night not too far from the tent.”
“This was our first visit to the Serengeti after many safaris in South Africa. The scale of the landscape and wildlife is almost unbelievable and the experience we had at the Singita Serengeti House was possibly our best ever on any holiday. The accommodation and setting were first class and the staff, Ellie, Felix and Joe in particular, could not have done more for us. Special mention also to the tennis ball boys! But extra special mention to Gertrude and her catering team. No doubt about this one. Definitely the best food ever. Full stop. Sorry Mrs J! Thanks to everyone for a wonderful stay.”
“This lodge is a dream, located in the most beautiful part of northern Tanzania. The Sasakwa lodge is located at the hill with a breathtaking view. You are facing a high end luxury stay, but no jet set style. Expensive, but value for money. We stayed with our whole family (parents and 3 children, age 13, 15, 17 years) in a separate cottage 2 min walking from the main building. This cottage was very spacial and you miss nothing not even your own pool. Laundry is taking care within 3 hours - free of charge. You have an all inclusive room rate so nobody is asking for the room number before saying good morning and you do not even have to sign anything during your stay. Everything like Breakfast, lunches and dinner, wine and drinks at the bar is part of all inclusive. The wine they serve is at the upper mid range level and ok. If you need your Chateau Petrus it is available. The staff is a dream. You have your personal butler which knows all about you before your arrive, after the first contact and dinner he even knows your habits. Your personal ranger is extremely knowledgeable and shows you all the games. He even knows when the "lion and leopard kills" are going to take place and bring you there. All in all the manager of the Sasakwa lodge manager couple Brad and Kate are excellent host. You feel as staying with good friends. Extremely gentle, personalities who kept their natural human being behavior. Our 8 days safari is over. After having our last safari tour on a balloon safari we are now heading towards Zanzibar where we are staying in The Residence. After that experience. They will have a tough time to keep up with the Jones!”
